we're going to the world cup!

i know, i know, its old news- its shows how long its been since my last entry, but i am still over the moon about australia qualifying for the football world cup. or should i say soccer world cup. its been 32 years to long since the mighty green and gold nation was represented- and since im over here at the moment, i will be there. i doubt i will get tickets, theres a total of 2 million avaiable and over 60 million people applied for them. i have registered with an aussie company who will be selling (very expensive) packages to the aussie games, so i may have a slim chance of buying one of those, but even if i dont have a ticket into the stadium, i will be outside as they set up giant screens showing the game, and often there is more people outside watching than the capacity crowd insdie the stadium. exciting times, bring on june 12.

ive had a really great month in terms of travelling, on the 11th i went with a mate to Bath, which is a small town in western england, pretty closeish to the border into wales, and Bath is famous for its Roman baths, which are baths that the Romans built when they occupied this part of the world, quite interesting, they are naturally spring fed at a consistent temperature of 39 degrees, due to some underground volcanic layer or crack in the earth or something; the tour took over an hour, and i cant concentrate for that long. look it up on google if you want more information.

the big trip of the month was on the 18th and i was off to germany. it started at 2:30am, when i ran out to my car with my backpack, to find my quality mode of transport resembling a block of ice, im serious it was about 1cm thick, as i had never seen this before, i was totally unprepared to 'scrape off' my car and make it safe to drive. i needed to get the ice off my windscreen, but had nothing, i thought it cant be that hard to get off, ill just whack on my wipers, no luck, i need a scraper, i had some stiffish cardboard in my boot (from my hallowwen costume, see pic in previous posts) its just made the cardboard damp, i eventually had to rip the ash tray out of my dash and use the metal edge to scrape a little square i could see though my windscreen and little squares for my mirrors- meanwhile some of the biys from upstairs were having a party and somehow saw me down there and started yelling stuff out/ making up songs about me, it was actually quite funny for 2:30 in the morning. so about 20 mins later i was off, i couldnt see much, but there wasnt much traffic so i was alright, drove up to cambridge and had to run to catch the 4:38am train to stansted airport. it was such a mission, but when your flying budget airlines and you plane leaves at 6:30, thats what you have to do.
to be continued...
